🌱💚 PLANT A PROMISE 💚🌱
Join us for a special community event where we come together to raise awareness of elder abuse, celebrate our older community members, and plant seeds of kindness, connection, and hope.
Rather than a traditional information session, Plant a Promise invites community members of all ages to help create a meaningful community garden while learning about elder rights, support services, and how we can all play a role in creating a safer and more inclusive community.
🌿 Help plant our community garden
💚 Make a personal promise of hope and support
🌻 Contribute to our symbolic Hope Gardens
🌱 Enjoy a free community morning tea
🎨 Take part in rock painting and interactive activities
📚 Access information, resources, and support services
🤝 Connect with local organisations and community members
Our garden will feature four large raised garden beds, making it accessible for older participants to comfortably join in. Two beds will become community herb gardens for everyone to enjoy, while two Hope Gardens will feature plants chosen for their special meanings:
💜 Lavender – dignity, healing, and respect
🌿 Rosemary – remembrance and honour
🌻 Sunflowers – hope, strength, and resilience
🌼 Native flowering plants – growth, belonging, and community connection
We are also pleased to welcome representatives from Peel Community Legal Services and other local support organisations who will be available to answer questions and provide information about elder abuse awareness, support services, and caring for loved ones.
Together, let’s plant more than a garden, let’s plant a promise to value, respect, and support older members of our community.
